About

Cindy Phillips, owner and founder of Gentle Rain Yoga, established June 1, 2018, has been teaching yoga since 2012 after completing a 200 hour certification with Savannah Yoga Center in Savannah, GA.  With her Hatha based training, which incorporated elements from Iyengar, Vinyasa, Integral and Kundalini styles, Cindy has taught people from age 8 to 88, leading some more athletic classes, and focusing mostly on gentle, restorative, beginner and senior yoga.  She completed a CEU certification in Senior/Chair Yoga in Birmingham, AL in 2018, and went on to complete a 300 hour advanced yoga certification with Yoga Farm Ithaca in Ithaca, NY in 2021.  The YFI program incorporated Kundalini Yoga with Ayurveda, Enneagram, and Moon Cycles.  Cindy's teaching has evolved to include a fusion of Hatha and Kundalini styles, and some strictly Kundalini classes and workshops.  In 2022 Cindy got certified in Kundalini Rebirthing through YFI, and she plans to offer Rebirthing in the near future.

Before becoming a full-time yoga instructor, Cindy had a career as a geologist, and then as an artist.  She has studied classical and western philosophy, Greek mythology and world religions.  Cindy has a great love for all cats, but especially her three fur babies Smokey O’Signal, Doyle and Ivey.  When not studying, practicing or teaching yoga, her favorite activities include hiking, backpacking, and landscaping with plants and rocks.  Cindy has been to the highest peaks in three states, including Mt. Cheaha, AL, Wheeler Peak, NM, and Mt. Mitchell, NC.  She has section-hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail in NC and VA, and hiked an active volcano, Mt. Pacaya in Guatemala.
